This week, a delegation from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) visited the country in what appear to be the final steps before enabling bovine offal exports to the Asian giant, after several years of feints and promises. From the Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA), they are confident that everything is in order and that the seal will be obtained soon, something that export meat processors are eagerly awaiting.
This is an agreement that both countries have been negotiating for quite some time. The visit they made this week was aimed at auditing meat processing plants and Senasa laboratories to certify their operation and thus be able to have the protocol signed as soon as possible, which is already polished. For years, Argentina has been exporting offal to China, but not directly, rather through Hong Kong as a third party. This sanitary authorization would be opening the big door to that market and improving prices.
