The results of the classification based on the industrial utilization value of marine and fishery life resources have been disclosed. The National Institute of Fisheries Science (acting director Mok Jong-soo) and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute (director Kim Hyun-tae) announced that they have classified 281 species of marine and fishery life resources into grades based on their utilization value. According to the evaluation results, 109 species were classified as 1st grade, 168 species as 2nd grade, and 4 species as 3rd grade. Focusing on 1st grade resources with high industrial utilization value, such as pollock, shrimp, and northern abalone, the plan is to promote the activation of the marine and fishery bio-industry and protect domestic industries by designating species subject to export approval among 1st and 2nd grade resources and managing them with priority.
