Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports to the ASEAN market accounted for over 8% of its total exports in the first eight months of 2021, generating $2,466 million despite a slight decrease from the previous year. The exports made up 48% of the total export turnover in August 2021, with rice, seafood, fertilizers, and coffee being the main products. Meanwhile, the USDA forecasts a 10% increase in the Philippines' rice imports for the 2021-2022 crop year. In China, the General Department of Customs and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos have signed a protocol for exporting fresh passion fruit to China, and the 471km-long Laos-China railway is nearing completion, aiming to boost trade and investment. Furthermore, China and Thailand have agreed to open seven new ports for agricultural trade, and the Cambodian National Assembly has ratified a Bilateral Free Trade Agreement with China, expecting to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion by 2023.
