According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska's corn acreage for all purposes decreased by 1% from the previous year, with 94% of the total acreage planted with biotechnology varieties. Soybean-planted acreage also declined by 4%, with 93% of the total acreage planted with genetically modified, herbicide-resistant seed. Winter wheat planted in fall 2022 increased by 17% from the previous year, while alfalfa acreage for dry hay decreased by 4%.
