Agricultural producers and processors must not be excluded from compensation for electricity. This is what representatives of the industry are insisting on. According to the organizations, a number of companies left out of the compensation scope have already been recognized by the European Commission as at risk of moving production outside the European Union due to unbearably high electricity costs and strong competition in international markets. Limiting exports, they warn, could cause serious damage to the system that ensures the country's food security. Higher electricity prices will inevitably increase the cost of production, which will affect the final food prices. Meanwhile, some enterprises risk shutting down, while others may move their production outside the EU, which would mean a loss of investments and jobs, especially in less developed regions.
