In the first nine months of 2024, Karelia's fish farms saw a 1% increase in production compared to the previous year, reaching 29.6 thousand tons. Tax revenues from fish farming have doubled, reaching 363 million rubles, with an anticipated growth of 35% by the end of the year. The region faces challenges such as dependence on imports of compound feed and planting material. However, efforts are being made towards import substitution through the implementation of projects for the production of compound feed and fish farming, with the first stage of a complex for growing valuable fish species already completed. The region is also focusing on creating domestic selection and breeding centers for obtaining planting material, which is expected to create jobs and improve social infrastructure.
