Rice prices in Egypt rose by 200 pounds per ton in the markets

Al Mal learned from responsible sources in the Chamber of Grains that rice prices in Egypt have increased by EGP 200 per ton of barley rice, with stable demand for the strategic commodity. The sources said that a ton of broad barley rice rose from EGP 16,000 to EGP 16,200 in the mills during the current week. The sources explained to Al Mal that the prices of fine-grain barley rice recorded EGP 15,000 per ton, an increase of EGP 200 as well. He pointed out that the price of white rice ranges between EGP 23,000 and EGP 28,000 per ton in the markets, depending on the type of grain and the percentage of breakage. The Ministry of Supply offers large quantities of rice in the markets through exhibitions held and its affiliated entities, in addition to importing quantities from abroad to offer them in the markets.
