The 2024-25 Chilean cherry export season has commenced with Rio King's Cheery Crunch cherries, opening the market early and targeting Chinese consumers with its large size, high brix, and vibrant color. The small shipment, consisting of 80 boxes, was transported to Shanghai's Huizhan wholesale fruit and vegetable market, where it was well-received despite the limited volume. Rio King aims to achieve a significant growth of up to 2,000,000 boxes in the next fiscal year, a 70% increase from the previous season, despite challenges like fruit fly. The company has a strategy in place to manage these challenges, with two cherry processing plants and the capability to process fruit quarantined by the fly.
