Romania's cereal production in 2024 was at its lowest in ten years, with a 14.7% decrease compared to 2023, totaling 17.87 million tons. This was largely due to significant drops in wheat, maize, and oilseeds, with wheat production falling slightly to 9.29 million tons and maize production seeing a steeper decline to 5.99 million tons. Oilseed production also decreased by 28%, and vegetable and potato harvests also declined due to worsening climatic conditions, water shortages, and rising production costs.
