Wholesale prices for salmon have started to decline.
The salmon catch in Russia in 2025 is going much better than in 2024. The forecast for salmon catch has been raised to almost 400,000 tons. Ilya Shestakov, the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, stated this on the air of the TV channel "Rossiya-24".
"We have already caught more than 240,000 tons. Kamchatka has already caught more than 200,000 tons, but these figures are constantly growing. <...> This catch will definitely be larger than the 2024 catch," Shestakov said. He also noted that wholesale prices for salmon have started to decline.
The head of the agency also reported that the total catch of aquatic biological resources in Russia since the beginning of this year amounted to about 3 million tons.
Earlier, the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) published a forecast according to which the catch of Pacific salmon in the Far East is expected to be at the level of 312,000 tons.
According to the results of 2024, the salmon catch in Russia amounted to 235.5 thousand tons.
