Erzurum, a city in Turkey essential for agriculture and livestock, is experiencing a significant increase in roughage production due to this year's substantial rainfall. Anticipated to surpass 1.5 to 2 million tons, this increase is set to boost meat and milk yield, benefiting the industry and its population, which largely relies on these sectors. With pasture occupying 63% of the city's area and supporting nearly 2 million cattle and sheep, the improved grass yield comes as a welcome development after last year's drought. Osman Akar, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, highlighted the positive impact on animal numbers and stressed Erzurum's leading role in roughage production, focusing on quality over quantity and providing high-standard roughage to the Black Sea provinces.
