RS accelerates wheat harvest, but pace remains below average

The Conjunctural Report released this Thursday (13) by Emater/RS-Ascar indicates that the wheat harvest has advanced from 42% to 60% of the planted area in Rio Grande do Sul. The acceleration of activities occurred, according to the bulletin, to "anticipate the removal of ready crops before the rains and intense winds predicted for 07/11." Despite the progress, the percentage remains below the average of the last five years, when, in the same period, the index reached 77%. The regional distribution follows the historical pattern. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, the Northwest Region "is approaching 80% of the harvested area," while the Northeast Region registers only 5%, due to late planting crops. Productivity has remained within expectations, although there is "high variability between crops," influenced by management, technological level, and distinct climatic conditions.
