Ruseed: a decrease in sunflower yield is a global trend

According to the forecast of the USDA, the global sunflower crop this season may amount to approximately 51.8 million tons, compared to 52.14 million tons in 2024/25. The largest producer, with a gross harvest of 17.5 million tons, will be Russia, followed by Ukraine with 10.5 million tons. Next are the EU (8.6 million tons), Argentina (5.1 million tons), and Kazakhstan (2.4 million tons). The top five sunflower-producing countries account for about 85% of the global gross harvest, making the world's sunflower yield highly sensitive to weather anomalies in the Black Sea region: any weather anomalies in the region affect it, as well as price dynamics, notes the analytical center of the company Ruseed. Thus, in the EU, the average sunflower yield is forecast at 17.7 tons/ha—higher than last year's 17.4 tons/ha, but lower than the annual average of 20.1 tons/ha, analysts compare.
