Despite the abolition of duties on chicken egg imports in Russia due to a sharp increase in egg prices, residents are still complaining about high costs and egg shortages. Imported eggs, primarily used for processing, do not improve food security or investment attractiveness, and are not cheaper than local eggs. To stabilize prices, long-term contracts with federal retail chains are suggested. Meanwhile, egg consumption in Russia has exceeded the rational norm, with a significant increase in imports from Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
