In 2020, the number of South and North American states importing grain from Russia increased, with Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Mexico being joined by Cuba and Brazil. The total shipment of wheat from Russian ports to the American region was over 297 thousand tons, with Nicaragua being the most active buyer (102 thousand tons). Mexico and Brazil followed with 71 thousand tons and 66 thousand tons respectively, while Venezuela and Cuba purchased 33 thousand tons and 25 thousand tons respectively. Chile also bought 0.2 thousand tons of lentils, and Mexico and Paraguay imported sunflower seeds, with quantities of 0.16 thousand tons and 0.02 thousand tons respectively.
