In 2020, Russia experienced a significant growth in its agricultural exports, rising from 19th to 17th place, with a 19% increase in volume reaching $ 30.5 billion, contributing 1.9% to the global trade of agricultural products. The growth was predominantly in grain, fat and oil products, and food and processing industry products. Globally, agricultural exports hit a record of $ 1.61 trillion, with the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Canada, Italy, and Belgium showing positive growth. However, exports from China, France, and Spain decreased. Meat and meat by-products made up 8.3% of global agricultural exports in value terms. The growth in the largest exporting countries was largely due to a surge in prices for major commodities as importers built up stocks in anticipation of pandemic-related supply disruptions.
