Russia has seen a surge in oilseed flax production over the past three years, emerging as a global leader in both flax production and the export of raw linseed oil. The country's oil flax harvest is projected to reach 1.5 million tons in 2022, a significant increase from the previous year. Although Russia primarily exports oilseed flax as a crude material, it has started to export oil in substantial quantities, with the number of flax processing plants set to increase. The Asian region, the Middle East, and aquaculture-focused countries are identified as potential markets for the export of finished products, such as linseed oil, which is used in the production of cosmetics, medicines, dietary supplements, and aquafeed. The economic benefits of flax cultivation have caught the attention of agricultural producers, with plans to expand flax production without encroaching on rapeseed cultivation areas by introducing new land and enhancing cultivation technologies.
