Russia's wine imports were down by one third in the first 10 months of the year compared to the same period last year, totaling 357.7 thousand tons. The top five suppliers, which include Italy, Georgia, Spain, Portugal, and France, accounted for 74% of these imports. Meanwhile, wine exports increased by 20% to 1.68 thousand tons. China, Turkey, Abkhazia, Latvia, and Israel were the top five importers of Russian wine. The Federal Customs Service also announced plans to increase duties on wine imports from unfriendly countries to 25% from August 2024, with the possibility of raising it to 50% or even 200%, as proposed by the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia.
