Russia to produce 64 thousand tons of honey this year

This year, commercial honey production in Russia may amount to 64 thousand tons. This forecast was voiced by industry analysts at Rosselkhozbank, writes Veterinary Science and Life. If this result is achieved, it will be only 500 tons less than last year. Experts recalled that currently more than 94 percent of bee colonies on the Russian market are on private farms (PF). They noted that beekeeping is a profitable business for these types of organization. In particular, with the right approach, it pays off in the first or second season, and its profitability can be up to 30 percent, the report says.
