Authorities in Moscow have discovered Tuta absoluta, a plant quarantine object, in a 16-ton shipment of tomatoes from Azerbaijan. The discovery was confirmed by a laboratory examination conducted by the All-Russian Center for Plant Quarantine. In accordance with Russian phytosanitary laws, the contaminated shipment was returned to Azerbaijan, and there have been 10 similar cases of pest detection in incoming tomatoes so far in 2023.
