On February 18 and 19, 2023, the Amur Reference Center of Rosselkhoznadzor identified the tomato brown rugose virus in two shipments of cherry tomatoes from China, totaling over 1200 tons. The virus, which affects tomatoes and peppers, causes symptoms such as chlorosis, deformation, and uneven ripening. This discovery has sparked concerns over potential crop losses and damage, as the virus can harm roots and stems, retard growth, and cause death. The findings have been reported to the territorial department of Rosselkhoznadzor.
