In 2024, Russian fishermen set a record for catching Iwashi sardines, with the catch already surpassing 563.5 thousand tons, a significant increase from the previous year, according to the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Ilya Shestakov. This achievement is due to the modernization of the fishing fleet, which has led to increased efficiency and improved product quality. The fishery is still in progress, and the final results will be evaluated in 2025.
