According to statistics from the Fish Union of Russia based on customs data from various countries, by September 2025, Russia's total exports of pollock to China, South Korea, Japan, and the four major European markets increased by 27% year-on-year to $1.3 billion (approximately €1.1 billion); during the same period, U.S. exports to these four markets decreased by 3% to $713 million (approximately €608 million). The core driving force behind Russia's export growth comes from the enhancement of its offshore processing capabilities. In recent years, more and more Russian deep-sea fishing vessels have achieved primary and secondary processing functions on board, enabling the direct production of high-value-added products such as fish fillets and surimi at sea.
