Saffron bulb harvest begins in Elmalı

The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has reached an important stage in its saffron production project aimed at diversifying agricultural production and supporting rural development. The harvest of saffron bulbs, which were introduced to the soil three years ago in the Çukurelma Neighborhood of Elmalı district, has begun. In line with Mayor Muhittin Böcek's "Local Development" vision, the 70 kilograms of saffron bulbs donated in Elmalı have now become a source of income for local producers. In the first years, the plant's flowers were utilized, and this year, the underground bulbs are being harvested to prepare new production areas. The saffron harvest was carried out in the production area of the Toprakana Women's Cooperative operating in Elmalı Çukurelma Neighborhood.
