Brazil: Conab forecasts a reduction in São Paulo's production compared to the last harvest

According to the results of the 2nd Survey of the 2023/2024 Grain Harvest, released last week by the National Supply Company (Conab), the state of São Paulo should produce a total of 10.6 million tons of grains, around 7.5% less than in the 2022/2023 harvest, when São Paulo production reached 11.4 million tons. The reduction is mainly due to corn and soybean crops, which were expected to fall this harvest. In the case of corn, the forecast production of 4.08 million tons is 13.4% lower than the last harvest, when it reached 4.71 million tons. The Bulletin points out that 1st Harvest corn grown in São Paulo has been losing space to soybeans, and producers who are still dedicated to planting the cereal allocate part of their areas to seed production, especially in the southwest region of the state, where several partnerships with private companies.
