The country's total wheat consumption is projected to grow at an annual rate of 4%, reaching 4.69 million tonnes in 2024-25. The General Food Security Authority will purchase up to 1.5 million tonnes of locally produced wheat. Meanwhile, corn consumption is expected to increase due to efforts to reach self-sufficiency in chicken meat, with Saudi Arabia projected to import about 4.5 million tonnes in 2024-25. Barley imports are also anticipated to rise to 2.5 million tonnes in 2024-25, a 30% increase from the previous year, to meet demand by feed processors.
