Sausage sales growth in 2022 has slightly slowed down from the previous years' double-digit growth but still shows overall growth in both breakfast and dinner sausage categories. Retail sales of breakfast sausage reached $2.06 billion, marking a 2.1% increase from the previous year, and dinner sausage sales were $4.66 billion, up by 1.6%. The affordability and flexibility of sausage have contributed to its strong performance, especially during the pandemic. Brand loyalty plays a significant role in consumer purchasing decisions, with a 2022 survey showing a decrease in consumers without a brand preference from 63% in 2012 to 29%. Innovations in flavor and proteins have also been key factors in the sausage market's growth.
