Scottish salmon exports reached a five-year high of GBP 645 million in the 12 months ending April 2024, with a 36% increase in the first four months alone compared to the previous year. The European Union continues to be the primary market, with France as the largest buyer, while non-EU markets, including the U.S. and Asia, also saw growth. The U.K. government has recently implemented a Protected Geographical Indication scheme to further protect the Scottish salmon brand.
