On the territory of Bulgaria from January 1, 2025, to January 21, 2026, 191 outbreaks of sheep and goat pox have been declared. This is indicated by the data of the European Commission's Animal Disease Information System (ADIS), mentioned by the resigning Minister of Agriculture Georgi Tahkov in response to a deputy's question regarding the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food not to carry out vaccination against sheep and goat pox and the measures taken to control and limit the disease in the country. At the moment, work is continuing on the final liquidation of 113 outbreaks, and 78 outbreaks have been completely liquidated. The minister recalled that the farmers from the zones with imposed restrictive measures due to the sheep and goat pox disease receive de minimis aid of 16 BGN per small ruminant.
