In January 2021, Vietnam's seafood exports experienced a significant surge, with a 23.4% increase compared to the same period last year, generating over 606 million USD. This growth is attributed to various factors, including the Lunar New Year holiday and a positive market trend. The country saw substantial increases in exports of pangasius, other sea fish, white shrimp, and bivalve mollusks. Notably, cashew exports to CPTPP agreement countries like Australia, Japan, and Mexico saw a sharp 34% increase. The US, Russia, and Taiwan also reported positive growth in imports from Vietnam. However, exports of high value-added processed products have seen a decline due to reduced demand and strict quarantine requirements for frozen goods exported to China.
