Secretary of Fisheries, José Gabriel Aguilar, announced record shrimp catch levels this year and mentioned the need for increased fishing limits due to the high volume of catch. He also highlighted efforts to reduce waste and protect the environment. Aguilar confirmed that 90% of the shrimp is exported and shared plans to extend the fishing season until early March. Additionally, he announced a $6 million contribution from the Chamber of the Yellow Fleet and other sector chambers to provide holiday support to 65 former Fyrsa workers who were unable to find new employment in the fishing industry.
