The Secretary of Agriculture of Paraná in Brazil releases new estimate for the 2022/23 crop

The 2022/2023 harvest should generate 46.7 million tons of grain in Paraná in an area of 10.8 million hectares. The information is from the Subjective Crop Forecast, released this Thursday (27) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Supply (Seab). If expectations are confirmed, they represent a 37% increase in volume and a 1% reduction in planted area compared to the 2021/2022 cycle, which ended with 34.1 million tons. “Despite some specific challenges, the state should have a good harvest”, analyzes the head of Deral, Marcelo Garrido. Soybean production is confirmed at 22.4 million tons in an area of 5.8 million hectares. The volume is 80% higher than that produced in the 2021/2022 harvest, when Paraná farmers harvested 12.4 million tons.
