(Sejong=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Young-seok = Sejong City and the Animal Health and Disease Control Support Headquarters have agreed to expand "urban beekeeping" to restore the urban bee ecosystem as of the 31st.
Sejong City plans to create bee gardens using vacant spaces and public land within the city. The Animal Health and Disease Control Support Headquarters has decided to establish an intelligent beekeeping system based on its expertise in beekeeping disease management and control, and to share disease control information with Sejong City.
The two agencies plan to form a regular consultation body to check the progress of urban beekeeping, jointly operate citizen participation experience programs, and apply for a joint trademark for urban beekeeping symbols to promote follow-up projects.
Department Head An Byeong-cheol of the Animal Policy Division said, "We will create a healthy eco-city through Sejong-style urban beekeeping with citizen participation."
