Sakhalin Oblast plans to boost its vegetable self-sufficiency by 20% within the next two and a half years, as stated by Alexey Belik at the IX Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok. The region has already achieved 95% self-sufficiency in potatoes and has made significant progress in meat and dairy production since 2017-2018. An investment project to expand greenhouse farms is in progress, and the region has begun processing its own meat products to reduce external dependency. The forum, held from September 3 to 6, 2024, focuses on international cooperation, technology, and regional development.
