Brazilian papaya exports experienced a significant decrease of 19% between January and September of this year, totaling only 31 thousand tons, down from 38 thousand tons in the same period last year. The decrease is attributed to low production due to adverse weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and cold weather. The main markets for Brazilian papayas were Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, and Holland, which accounted for 73% of the total exports. The main export route was by land, making up 94% of the total exports, while road transport surpassed maritime transport as the second route, accounting for 6% of the total exports.
