In February, European banana imports experienced a significant decline, with overalls supplies dropping by 8.3% to 524 tonnes, as reported by FruitTrop specialists from CIRAD. This decrease was primarily observed in imports of dollar bananas, particularly from Costa Rica, Colombia, and Ecuador, which fell by over 10%. The drop in imports from Africa-Caribbean-Pacific (ACP) countries, including Ghana, was less pronounced but still noted. However, banana imports from European origins such as Martinique, the Canaries, and Guadeloupe saw growth in February 2021 compared to February 2020.
