The Turkish agriculture, food and beverage industry experienced a decrease in its foreign trade balance by 5.6% in the first four months of 2021, compared to the same period in the previous year, despite a 12.8% increase in exports and 17.8% increase in imports. The increase in exports is due to a significant rise in April, while imports have seen a decrease since their peak in March. The highest exports were reported in the Fruits with Shells, Sugar and Sugary Products, Fresh Fruits, Vegetable Oil, and Vegetables sectors, accounting for 42.8% of total exports. On the other hand, Animal Feed, Vegetable Oil, Flour, Starch, and Cocoa-Chocolate sectors were the largest importers, contributing to 69.7% of total imports. The import of Sunflower oil, which experienced price increases, was notable. The export and import dynamics of various sectors, including Sugar and Confectionery Products Industry, Fresh Fruits Industry, and Vegetable Oil Industry, were also highlighted.
