The Bavarian State Office for Statistics has reported a decrease in the number of sheep in Bavaria by 1.9%, totaling around 254,300 animals. Each farm keeps an average of 127 sheep. The decline is primarily due to a decrease in female sheep for breeding. The export of sheep's wool from Bavaria has more than doubled in the last ten years, reaching 706 tons worth 2.1 million euros. However, the imported quantity has seen a 14% decrease.
