Shipments of pork and poultry from Mato Grosso, Brazil increase and meat shipments reduce by 2.67%

The volume of poultry and pork exports increased in 2023, however the same did not occur in relation to beef from Mato Grosso. Shipments fell 2.67%, reaching 589.1 thousand carcass equivalent tons compared to the 2022 result of 605.3 thousand tons. The data are from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX), the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and compiled by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea). The revenue obtained from the sale of beef fell by 23%, around R$600 million less in the 12-month period. In 2023, revenue reached was US$2.1 billion, while in 2022 it was US$2.7 billion. China is the main destination with shipments of 317.6 thousand tons to the Asian country, followed by Egypt (34.6 thousand tons), United Arab Emirates (30.1 thousand tons), Chile (27.4 thousand tons) and United States (22.7 thousand tons).
