The Dalyan district in Muğla, Turkey, is experiencing a significant increase in mullet fish due to the start of the spawning season. The Dalyan Fisheries Cooperative (DALKO) is capitalizing on this by selling the fish at 50 liras per kilo, a move aimed at making fish more affordable for the local community. DALKO President Arif Yalılı highlighted the cooperative's efforts to facilitate fish spawning by expanding the wire mesh width to 3.5 cm, as required by Turkish law. However, the issue of fish poaching remains, with some individuals still catching and selling spawning fish, despite calls for the protection of these fish during their reproductive period.
