Between 17 to 24 September 2021, state plant quarantine inspectors in Kazakhstan identified 76 violations related to the importation of regulated products, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of agricultural produce and timber from countries like Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan. These violations, including the absence of phytosanitary certificates, improper labeling, and failure to undergo required inspections, led to impositions of administrative fines totaling 4.2 million tenge. Since the beginning of the year, over 4,000 violations have been recorded, attracting over 308 million tenge in fines, highlighting a persistent challenge in ensuring compliance with phytosanitary standards in Kazakhstan's agricultural imports.
