The collective effort of over 30 small family agriculture producers from Huaura, in Lima, has made its way into international trade. This is the Agrarian Cooperative of Users Desagravio Ltda. n° 14, which achieved its first export of 48 tons of garlic to Mexico valued at $120,000, thanks to the technical-commercial support of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), through Agromercado. The garlic, sent in two shipments of 24 tons each, corresponds to medium and large commercial sizes—between 46 and 75 mm—attributes demanded by the Mexican market, which requires phytosanitary certification from Senasa for its entry. The processing was carried out in a private plant in Supe-Barranca authorized for the selection and packaging processes.
