SMK Bagan Serai is planning to plant 500 MD2 honey pineapple trees on over 0.3 hectares of land to provide students with hands-on learning experience in agro-agricultural concepts, including hydroponic cultivation. The school has applied for RM10,000 from the Agriculture, Plantation and Food Industry Committee Chairman to fund the land reclamation and seed purchase for the pineapple crops. The school has already initiated a hydroponic vegetable planting project since August, which has been successful in producing proceeds that are sold to teachers and contributed to the school Parents and Teachers Association fund, benefiting 1,127 B40 students.
