A species of jelly fish, resembling an eel-catfish hybrid, has become one of the most expensive freshwater fish in China due to its rarity and specific living conditions. These jelly fish are characterized by their ugliness and small meat yield, but their high price reflects their nobility in the fish world. Living only in clean water, mainly in mountain streams, their reproduction is not very strong, leading to a small egg count and low survival rate of juveniles. As a result, their scarcity has driven the price to over 2,000 yuan/kg (more than 6.5 million VND/kg). In Vietnam, these jelly fish are found in the Gam River and are known as 'nami fried' or 'Gam river fried'.
