Turkey: Sorghum Sudan Grass Project in Tokat

The "Sorghum Sudan Grass Hybrid Production Dissemination Project" implemented within the scope of the Program for the Activation of Agricultural Land Use (TAKE) of the General Directorate of Plant Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry provided support to livestock breeders in Tokat. The harvest of the "sorghum sudan grass hybrid" resembling corn leaves, which was planted as a second crop after the wheat harvest on 10 decares of land belonging to 3 farmers in the Pazar district in July and used in feed production within the scope of the 75 percent seed grant project, was carried out. The project, which aims to reduce feed costs, increase the profit margin of livestock breeders and thus develop animal husbandry, yielded 7 tons of product per decare from the plant that needs less water, fertilizer and seed.
