The Olifants River valley region in South Africa's Western Cape is producing high-quality currant crops, reportss the country's industry association. The region, which accounts for 12% of South Africa's raisin production, has experienced favorable growing conditions this year. South Africa is the world's second-largest currant producer, making 4000 – 5000 tonnes per year. The small berry count of the currants makes them suitable for the baking and confectionery industries. The 2021 raisins campaign has focused on healthy snacking and promoting the industry's unique selling points to the UK market.
