South African importers approve of India's decision to lift the ban on rice exports, specifically non-basmati white rice, which was in place for over a year. The decision is welcomed by importers and restaurant owners due to the anticipated reduction in rice prices. India is the largest global rice exporter, accounting for nearly 40% of the global rice trade and 65% of the basmati market.
