South Korea has introduced the K-Rice technology in East Africa to increase rice yield, with Kenya and Uganda serving as pilot sites and other countries like Senegal and Ghana also involved. The project aims to produce 2,040 tonnes of seed in 2023, with expectations to double this by 2027, potentially addressing food security issues. The first Korea-Africa Summit is planned for June, where South Korea aims to increase its assistance to Africa, focusing on tailored support and targeting the Africa Continental Free Trade Area agreement to benefit Korean companies. Former Kenyan ambassador to South Korea, Ngovi Kitau, stresses the importance of aligning with the African Union's Agenda 2063 and using local think-tanks to develop policy briefs for the summit.
