In the 2023/24 season, tangerine imports in Southeast Asia rose by 8% after two years of decline, with key importers (excluding Vietnam) bringing in nearly 440 thousand tons. The region has the potential to import up to half a million tons annually, with Vietnam adding another 200-300 thousand tons. China remains the dominant supplier, while Egypt and Morocco face logistical challenges but have promising future prospects, especially with new market access in the Philippines and expected access in Thailand by 2025-2026. The Asia Fruit Logistica exhibition in Hong Kong in September 2024 will provide a platform for Egyptian and Moroccan exporters to expand their presence in the region.
