Porto Murtinho, a key logistics hub on the Bioceanic Route, has started operating its largest port terminal, exporting soybeans to Argentina via the Paraguay River Waterway. This marks the resumption of waterway transport in Mato Grosso do Sul, which was halted by drought in 2021, with expectations to operate until September due to increased river levels. The terminal plans to export 450,000 tons of soybeans and creates new job opportunities. The revival of waterway transport is seen as crucial for the region's economy and logistics, following long-term efforts by the state government to enhance a lower-cost natural transport route.
